All the echoes- in the works

I’m deep in the process of writing my next story, All the Echoes—and it’s already haunting me in the best way.

Set in the late 1990s, this is a tale about a spirit line—a phone number whispered between the desperate and the curious. Call it, and you won’t reach a stranger. You’ll hear a voice you know. Or a voice that knows you.

The more my characters pick up the phone, the more the echoes follow them—into their homes, their dreams, and their waking hours. Some calls bring comfort. Others bring something far more chilling.

Why the 90s? Because it was a decade balanced between the analog and the digital, when mystery lived in the spaces between the static. That in-between world is the perfect backdrop for a story where the line between the living and the dead blurs with every ring.

I can’t share too much yet, but All the Echoes will blend ghost story chills with the creeping unease of psychological suspense—haunting, nostalgic, and unsettling in equal measure.

For now, the echoes are still forming. But soon, they’ll be impossible to ignore.

Warmly,

Mariz Everly
